The MFC-9010CN is a compact, yet powerful digital color all-in-one solution that delivers brilliant color printing, copying and scanning as well as excellent network connectivity with its built-in Ethernet interface. It quickly produces outstanding color and monochrome output at up to 17 pages per minute, and offers flexible paper handling through its adjustable 250-sheet capacity paper tray. In addition, for envelopes and letterhead, it features a manual feed slot and straight through paper path that helps ensure excellent output quality every time. The MFC-9010CN also features a 35-page auto document feeder that allows you to copy or scan multi-page documents quickly and easily.

I was sold on its many features and low price. I was so pleased with how simple this printer was to set up. From box to print was about 8 minutes, most of that time spent removing tape from the unit and loading the toner cartridges. Network setup was instant: I connected an ethernet cable to my router (which is connected to my cable modem) and POOF -- just by printing something from Word, my Snow Leopard downloaded and installed the appropriate software, and it printed a gorgeous document. I never even needed to insert the CD (but I think I will when I try to use the PC to print to it via the network). I wanted just one printer that all of the family... The scanner and printer are great and simple to use. The only drawback I have encountered (aside for the obvious limitations, such as no fax) is the toner life. It seems to run out of toner very quickly and for the first 8 months of ownership I replaced them every time the machine quit printing and forced me to. I tried using a refill kit to cut costs and that was a bad idea. Once I started using it, the toner came out inside of the machine and left a mess to clean up. I also tried generic cartridges and they didn't print well or last long. I finally did some online research and found out that you can manually reset the toner cartridge and essentially trick the printer into thinking that it has a new cartridge. I first did this on my black cartridge and it is still working fine after printing several hundred pages. The information I found said that you may even be able to double to life of your cartridges. I had been using the Brother DCP-7020, an incredibly reliable machine, that lasted me ten years without any problems. The only reason I replaced it was to have color digital printing. The 9010CN is great, especially if you're running MacOS X, and ONLY if you connect the printer using the Ethernet network jack to an ethernet hub, airport base station, etc. If you do that, you have full WIRELESS PRINTING AND SCANNING. It's the scanning part that I was surprised at. I'm running Snow Leopard, and if you open up the Print Queue window for this printer, there's a scanning button in the upper-right corner which gives you access to all sorts of scanning options: color/grey, resolution, flat-bed or DOCUMENT FEEDER! I'm not sure if wireless scanning is supported via the USB port (e.g., hook up the printer via USB to an Airport Express); however, if you connect this printer to your network via ethernet and you're a mac user, you get outstanding...
