I've spent years cycling through different pens with varied experiences of likes and dislikes, but I have always appreciated a good matched set. I had stayed away from the traditional Cross pens sets that have the metallic finishes, because I find them to be slippery after writing a while. I took a chance on these, and am very glad I did. This is a very nice set, and the matte finish gives this set an excellent texture. First off, if you have small hands and prefer the feel of a traditionally sized writing instrument, you probably need to look elsewhere. I am a large guy with large hands, and I really appreciate the oversized form of this set. They are perfectly weighted and balanced, and have a very nice writing action. The mechanical pencil that accompanies the pen is nice. It is not the greatest pencil in the world by any stretch of your imagination, but it is very serviceable.
